Okay, enough about Sen. Reid. I want to talk about another icy white thing: the ton of snow that covers my house (see illustration).Today I shoveled more snow than ever, since moving in to this house twenty years ago.
17.5 inches we got. The University of Wisconsin got a snow day -- first time, I think, in the quarter century I've been employed here.
This winter is shaping up to be big!

The UW closed in Dec '90 when we got 17" or so of snow. I recall the announcement coming over the PA of Witte Hall.
