Man Arrested for Wearing McCain/Palin T-Shirt
Scroll forward to about 3:30. (Video from the conspiracist website RogueGovernment.com.)
At one point Philly's Phinest seem to be trying to tear the man's shirt off. I suppose the most charitable interpretation is that the cops are afraid that this brave/insane man's very presence in a screaming mob of Obamaniacs is a threat to his life or, at least his bodily integrity, and are arresting him to protect him.
Read this way, I suppose the celebrating mob in this case is scarier as a portent for the future than the cops are. I certainly don't begrudge them their celebration -- heck, if I were African American I would probably would have been in the street singing and dancing as well. (Though maybe I should mention that not all African Americans were. See also here.) But why should the underside of joy and love be anger and hatred for those who don't share it? Maybe this is true of one kind of love.
On a lighter note, there's this (hat-tip to 2Blowhards):

And I'm quite sure you can find excellent reasons why people shouldn't vote for Obama in the writings of Walter Williams and Larry Elder.
Speaking of policing, I've read references to a speech Obama apparently gave in July in Colorado where he talked about the need for establishing a civilian security force. What does this mean exactly? Isn't this the sort of thing Hitler (and Stalin) established? Would such a force carry weapons? What would be their duties? Is this something the Bill of Rights protects us against? I sure hope so.
Ann,
Yes, I don't get that at all. Here is a video of him making the statement, which offers no help whatsoever in clarifying the idea:

In fact, this clip only makes it more baffling because he suggests (a) that this sort of "security" is now provided only by the military, and (b) the civilian supplement will be "just as well-funded" as our military now is. Given that our "defense" spending is already significantly greater than that of the rest of the world combined, I can only wonder what the hell he is talking about.
I've seen no discussion of this proposal, except for a few cries of alarm on the right. The left seems to have greeted this weird statement with a yawn.
kraorh,
Those are definitely good examples as well.
