I liked "District 9" a lot. Except for the video-game-like action sequences at the end, which somewhat distract us from the point of the film, I thought the script was worthy of Rod Serling himself.<br /><br />I also liked "Up" and "Up in the Air" a lot. Also, though I thought the script might have gone through one more draft, "A Serious Man."<br /><br />When I said "they don't make them any more" I was exaggerating, of course. But I think in the film culture in general there has been a plate-tectonic shift in the direction of the fast, the loud, the intellectually mushy, and the visually stunning. And a stunned audience is not a thoughtful audience.Lester Hunthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14746157071827337723noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22657443.post-33635421375811297282010-03-08T14:05:51.265-06:002010-03-08T14:05:51.265-06:00This comment has been removed by the author.Lester Hunthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14746157071827337723noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22657443.post-50980452389785401012010-03-08T12:57:55.534-06:002010-03-08T12:57:55.534-06:00They do make films like this but you don't see...They do make films like this but you don't seek them out and prefer instead to complain about Avatar.Skiphttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16152773998591751737noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22657443.post-53895522518248395612010-03-08T11:14:19.892-06:002010-03-08T11:14:19.892-06:00That would mean that people are a lot sleepier tha...That would mean that people are a lot sleepier than they used to be. Dunno. I think I prefer the videogames explanation. At least videogames are something they didn't have back in the day.Lester Hunthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14746157071827337723noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22657443.post-34132145766606619842010-03-08T04:05:53.054-06:002010-03-08T04:05:53.054-06:00Maybe the reason "To Kill a Mockingbird"...Maybe the reason "To Kill a Mockingbird" is so quiet compared to modern films, is because if the films were not loud, too many people would fall asleep. Having fallen asleep too many people would want their money back. Who wants to spend twelve bucks on a nap?patrickhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02574631633310723956noreply@blogger.com
